Every student is different — this is a central insight that Svetlana (Lana) has always held to be true in her over 15 years of teaching children and adults of all ages. She tailors her teaching strategies to fit the needs of each student, instructing at the pace that makes sense for them.

Lana's approach to violin and viola education is comprehensive, focusing not only on technique and artistic expression but also physical awareness. Her methodology develops the performance endurance of students, allowing them to play at length and helping them avoid tension problems.

Teaching youth is an area in which Lana has deep expertise. Her former violin and viola students have received admissions and scholarships to leading institutions in Michigan and Illinois. She has experience working with children that have coordination, attention, or muscle problems.

I could not be more pleased or frankly more amazed. He is now 14 and with your instruction he scored in the top level for the State solo and ensemble. You have taught Thomas technique, perseverance and how to truly enjoy doing his best.
— Peter Lichtenberg, Parent
Lana has taught me how to be comfortable and stable when I play the violin. I have learned to not reprimand myself for a mistake. Most important, I have learned to give myself permission to feel good about playing my violin. Thank you, Lana, for your amazing encouragement.
— Lynda Fulgenzi, Adult Student
The end result after several months was extraordinary. Lana’s brilliant strategy on choosing the song to accentuate my daughter’s strength surely boosted her confidence and her desire to continue the music. I still remember what my daughter said this one day after playing the song. “Mommy, I now sound like Miss Lana”.
— Eunhee Choi, Parent
What has impressed me most is Lana’s passion for technique and dedication to a holistic approach to strings and teaching. Her early focus and emphasis on technique — including proper positioning, breathing, posture, bow handling, and equipment placement — has made a tenfold improvement in my daughter’s progress.
— Laura Kline, Parent
